About the Item

This reproduction features Andy Warhol's artwork "Birth of Venus with Purple Background," originally published in 1995 by Te Neues in Germany. These posters have gained significant collectibility over the years. Te Neues held the rights to publish Warhol's work until 1999, when the license was transferred to another publisher in the United States. Unlike modern prints that utilize the giclée printing method, which is printed on demand, these posters were produced using the older offset lithography technique. This method is known for its ability to render colors more accurately and vividly, preserving the true-to-reality image quality that Warhol intended. Due to the change in publishers, only a few copies of these posters remain available on the open market. They were acquired directly from the publisher, with the entire remaining inventory being destroyed after the license transfer. This adds to their rarity and collectible value among art enthusiasts and Warhol collectors.
