ABOUT THIS PIECE: A beautiful Camarguais mare studying the photographer in the warm waters of the Mediterranean in southern France. The Camarguais is an ancient breed of horse indigenous to the Camargue area on the Mediterranean coast of southern France, between Montpellier and Marseille. Its origins remain relatively unknown, although it is generally considered one of the oldest breeds of horse in the world. For centuries, possibly thousands of years, these compact, agile horses have lived wild in the harsh environment of the Camargue marshes and wetlands of the Rhone river Delta. There they developed the stamina, hardiness and agility for which they are known today. Traditionally, they live in semi feral conditions in the marshy land and salt lagoons of the region.
ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Infatuated with the sea in all its forms, photographer Jonathan Chritchley encapsulates the mighty strength and epic magnificence of the ocean and life around it. His photographs are softly magnetic, enchanting in their tranquility and serene stillness. "The mind is like water, only able to reflect when it is perfectly still," says Chritchley.
PACKAGING: 30x40" and 40x60" prints are shipped in a special fortified tube to guard against bending or damage. Framed 30x40" prints are shipped via FedEx in a bespoke cardboard box with a fitted interior armature for the frame. We do not frame the extra large, 40x60" print sizes because they are too large to ship without risking damage.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: We ship unframed prints internationally via DHL. The international shipping cost does not include the tax & duties, which will be the responsibility of the customer. Unfortunately, because of the high shipping cost we do not ship framed prints internationally at this time.

Artist Biography -
While Knorr’s images take some of their inspiration from the Indian tradition of personifying animals in literature and art, there is another almost subconscious strain to her work. Going back to the time of cave painting we see that these early visual artists not only recorded their lives and surroundings, but used art to express themselves. The depiction of animals in symbolic and powerful ways and the urge to create these images with the best tools at hand is a line stretching from these unnamed cave painters to Karen Knorr.
