About the Item
‘Bear Hugs’ is a large silkscreen print in a variable edition by renowned printmaker Tim Southall. This print is concerned with love, and in particular, the universal loving bond between a mother a child. This relationship has been, and continues to be explored through art. ‘Bear Hugs’ is in a variable edition. This means that there are a number of variation within the edition, and specifically with this print, that it is available in a number of different colour ways. At the moment the edition is only in the proof stages with Tim producing just three versions, and we are lucky enough to have an artists proof of all three.

ARTIST BIO: Tim Southall studied Fine Art at Northumbria University and then printmaking Royal College of Art and l’école des beaux art, Paris. Based in London for twenty years, he now splits his time between London and his house and studio in Cadiz Province, southern Spain. The base upon which he builds his work is metaphysics: existence, objects and their properties, space and time, cause and effect, and possibility. Using these guides, he express's how he see's and experiences the world. This he does mostly through the use of narrative within a landscape using either the human or animal form to create a narrative. He strives to make work which is delicate and shows a lightness of touch along with an eye for detail. He also uses the language of drawing and mark-making in an attempt to describe emotional depth and atmosphere.

Tim Southall
