About the Item
‘Bear Hugs’ is a large silkscreen print in a variable edition It is an image which aim to explore the very special bond between a mother and a child. From the earliest of times the mother figure has been depicted in art, most notably as the ‘Madonna and Child’ in western art, and this relationship has been, and continues to be explored through art today. The inspiration for ‘Bear Hugs’ comes from both a personal relationship we all have with our own mothers, and in the rich cultural depiction of the subject in art. This strong and fundamental connection between mother and child courses like a strong current and is something that touches people’s souls, something that everyone can relate to and make a connection with. ‘Bear Hugs’ is in a variable edition. This means that the print is available in a number of different colours - in this case, Hot Pink. Please enquire if interested in different colours.
Tim Southall is available with Wychwood Art online and in our gallery. Tim studied Fine Art at Northumbria University and then printmaking Royal College of Art and l’école des beaux art, Paris. Based in London for twenty years, he now splits his time between London and his house and studio in Cadiz Province, southern Spain. The base upon which he builds his work is metaphysics: existence, objects and their properties, space and time, cause and effect, and possibility. Using these guides, he express's how he see's and experiences the world. This he does mostly through the use of narrative within a landscape using either the human or animal form to create a narrative. He strives to make work which is delicate and shows a lightness of touch along with an eye for detail. He also uses the language of drawing and mark-making in an attempt to describe emotional depth and atmosphere.

Tim Southall
Tim Southall was born in Staffordshire in 1961. He studied Fine Art at Northumbria University and then printmaking Royal College of Art and École des beaux art, Paris.
