About the Item

Brittany Noriega Magnolia Laser Transfer on Handmade Paper Year: 2021 Size: 6 x 4 inches Edition: 10 Signed by hand COA provided Ref.: 924802-1044 Tags: floral, print, drawing, paper, black and gray This drawing explores what it means to be a "lightmaker", in a literal and surreal sense. Connecting and working with community is an important part of my artistic practice, and being a "lightmaker" is an interesting concept to consider. Joy, laughter, and uniqueness are all important parts of resistance. Brittany Noriega is an emerging contemporary artist, a community organizer, a lifelong learner, and a lover of humanity. She is an interdisciplinary artist exploring the connectedness in visual art and emotion through large-scale, detailed, and otherworldly works. Brittany is a Kansas City native but spent much of her youth traveling the globe and collecting experiences. These experiences shaped her beliefs, her love of people, and continue to influence her work today. Brittany studied studio art and sociology in the Black Hills of South Dakota and is currently studying Health Science and how the arts affect our bodies and minds.

Liz Barber's organic abstract paintings are layered bursts of energy inspired by nature’s movement. Forms and lines fall into a sea of emotion. Shapes and reflections drift into volumetric configurations. She pours colors onto the canvas and watches what happens. Intuitively, she then edits. Barber uses a form of mixed media which allows for more creative freedom and gives the materials a voice. This painting makes a beautiful pair with the Liz Barber painting, "Magnolia 2...

This painting makes a beautiful pair with the Liz Barber painting, "Magnolia 1." The most common reoccurring theme in Barber’s work is the ocean or natural elements and forms. The shapes serve as anchors for the mind to stop and reflect upon. They can be ambiguous or recognizable forms based on what the viewer brings to the piece. Barber leans towards distinctive color palettes at certain times of the year as the seasons change. They are either subtle or intense color interaction...
