1935 Original Art Deco poster by Cassandre - Dubo, Dubon, Dubonnet
By Adolphe Jean-Marie (AM) Cassandre
Located in PARIS, FR
"In triptych form, the mythical Dubo, Dubon, Dubonnet is in a way the ancestor of the animated gif! A simple, poetic visual narrative wrapped in a humorous tone. A silhouette darkens as the Dubo, Dubon, Dubonnet sequence progresses. Some say that it's these gestures and features that have given rise to our image of the aperitif. Cheers, Cassandra! Today, the Evin law would forbid this type of alcohol promotion, but that hasn't stopped this poster from becoming a cult image, taken up and quoted by every generation of graphic designers. Dubonnet is a brand of vermouth flavored mainly with cinchona, available in red and white. It was created by French chemist Joseph Dubonnet. It was in Paris, near the future site of the Garnier opera house, that Joseph Dubonnet developed his cinchona wine in 1846. To combat malaria, he developed this bitter-tasting medicine, which he masked with a strong-tasting decoction of herbs and spices. Soldiers in the Foreign Legion...

1932 original poster after A.M. Cassandre for Dubo Dubon Dubonnet
By Adolphe Jean-Marie (AM) Cassandre
Located in PARIS, FR
The 1932 original poster after A.M. Cassandre for Dubo Dubon Dubonnet is one of the most iconic pieces of advertising art from the early 20th century. Designed by the renowned French artist Adolphe Mouron Cassandre, this poster is a striking example of modernist commercial design that revolutionized the way products were promoted in the 1930s. The playful, rhythmic slogan “Dubo Dubon Dubonnet” has become synonymous with the drink, elevating Dubonnet to a cultural symbol of France’s post-war glamour. Dubonnet, originally created in 1846 as a medicinal tonic, was transformed into one of the most celebrated aperitifs in France by the time the 1932 poster...

"Quinquina Dubonnet" Original Jules Cheret Maitre de l'Affiche
By Jules Chéret
Located in Hinsdale, IL
CHERET, JULES (1836 - 1932) "Quinquina Dubonnet" Original lithograph from “Les Maitres de L’Affiche” series Printed by Imprimerie Chaix, Paris Bearing MDL stamp lower right, from issue #28, 1898. Plate #109 Unframed Size: 11 3/8 x 15 3/4” The “Les Maitres de l’Affiche” series was offered as a subscription series to collectors every month for 60 months, from December 1895 through November 1900. The “Maitres de l’Affiche,” were issued as separate numbered sheets, referred to as “plates”. They were numbered, with the printers name “Imprimerie Chaix,” in the margin at the bottom left hand corner, “PL.1” to “PL.240.” In the margin at the bottom right hand corner of each, is a blind embossed stamp from a design of Cheret’s. The smaller format and the fact the “Maitres” were a paid subscription series, allowed Imprimerie Chaix to use the latest state of the art printing techniques, not normally used in the large format posters due to cost. A very high quality of paper was used, where as the large format posters were printed on lesser quality newsprint, due to cost and a short expected life span. This explains why the quality of the printing, in the “Maitres de l’Affiche,” usually far exceeds that of their larger counterparts. “The Dubonnet poster...
