About the Item

This lithographic poster illustrates Aristide Bruant who was a famous performer and cabaret owner in Paris at the turn of the 20th century. Lautrec, seizing on Bruant's trademark costume of a wide-brimmed hat, cape and red scarf, designed a sparse yet iconic image that promoted both the performer and business. Certificate of Provenance: Each individual work of art carefully curated by Mourlot Editions comes with a Certificate of Provenance, signed, dated, stamped, and numbered by Eric Mourlot. This certificate guarantees the origin and authenticity of your personal lithograph About the Artist: (1864-1901) French Lautrec was a painter, printmaker, draftsman, and illustrator. Throughout his career, which spanned less than 20 years, he created 737 canvases, 275 water-colors, 363 prints an posters, 5,084 drawings, some ceramic and stained glass work, and an unknown number of lost works. Lautrec is known as on of the greatest painters of the Post-Impressionist period.
