About the Item

Artist: Alexandra Nechita Title: My Journey - Blue Portfolio Artworks: Healing Efforts, Big Hearts Are Never Too Big Year: 1998 Lithographs on Arches Archival Paper    Size; 35½'' x 23½'' inches Edition: Signed in pencil, dated and marked AP 47/50 (Artist Proof) Embossed with Mourlot Paris Stamp Big Hearts Are Never Too Big INSPIRATION: As I have become involved with people who volunteer their time and their love to troubled children, I realize how much love and warmth is generated between the volunteers and the children. "Big Hearts Are Never Too Big" reflects the value of love. There can never be too much love in a child's life. The heart, of course, is the traditional symbol of love. I believe the more you give, the more you will have in return for yourself. - Alexandra Nechita Healing Efforts INSPIRATION: Last year when I was very ill it was difficult for my mind to cooperate with my body in the healing effort. My mind and body were on different wave lengths and my body was win-ning. The red represents the fever of 104.9. The trumpet is summoning the healing dove. The turtle represents slow movement, which is how slowly my illness moved away from me. - Alexandra Nechita Alexandra Nechita is a Romanian-American contemporary artist known for her vibrant and expressive paintings and sculptures. Born on August 27, 1985, in Vaslui, Romania, Nechita moved to the United States with her family when she was just a toddler. Often dubbed “the Mozart of Painting,” she began drawing and painting at a very young age and had her first solo art exhibition at the age of eight. By the time she was 10, Nechita had already become internationally recognized, with solo exhibitions across the United States and around the world, including galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and Tokyo. She became one of the youngest professional artists in the world, garnering widespread media attention and being featured on programs like “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “Good Morning America.” Nechita has collaborated with various organizations to promote peace and art education. In 1999, she was appointed by the United Nations as a Global Arts Child Advocate for Peace, a role that led her to create a series of artworks and sculptures promoting peace and social change. One of her most notable works in this capacity is “Rebirth of Romania’s Heart,” a sculpture installed at the United Nations headquarters in New York City. Alexandra has synthesized an encyclopedia of other 20th Century modernist styles - Surrealism to Expressionism - in original works which can range up to eight feet tall.
