SALE ONE WEEK ONLY Antonio Lopez Saenz is a brilliant iconic creative artist from Mazatlan, Mexico. The aquatint “Pareja” (Partner) was created in 1980 and signed, titled and numbered 23/25. This print captures a favorite theme of Antonio's - pareja - partner. Not only do we have the partnership of a man and woman, but the two docked boats might also be partners in their voyages. There is a lighthearted feel to the piece through the movement of the couple as they appear to be running to board the vessel or in waving to say good-bye to a passenger aboard ship. The colors enhance the peaceful scene. Antonio captures the flavor of his city and its people through his works on canvas, paper and in sculpture. Each piece of work beautifully portrays his greatest source of inspiration: the city of Mazatlan and the individuals who live there. The characters in his works have no face. Their anonymity is known only to Saenz lending them a sense of mystery. Born in 1936, Antonio knew from an early age that he was destined to paint. His work was largely, largely inspired by the 1950s. New York City became the focus for modernism on an international scale during the Post-War period. Many artists had travelled to the city during the Second World War, fleeing in exile from Europe. This led to a substantial pooling of talent and ideas. Influential Europeans such as Piet Mondrian, Josef Albers and Hans Hoffmann provided inspiration for American artists whilst in New York, and influenced cultural growth in the United States for many later decades. Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Frank Kline, Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still and Adolph Gottlieb were predominant artists of this time. The male dominated environment has been subsequently revised to acknowledge the contributions of female artists such as Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, and Louise Bourgeois, amongst others. Artists Drudry Brandt, Alina Kalczynska-Scheiwiller, Nik Zainal Abidin, Amalia Del Ponte, and Jean-Pierre Delannoy are of the same generation. It is mounted on upper edges of sheet under paste-partout, monogrammed and numbered #77/99 in a felt-tip pen on the lower right. He has signed it both on the photo and on the surrounding mat. Alex Crieger is a world-reknown artist, designer and photographer. He lives and works in Los Angeles. His digital paintings have a rich and profound pictorial space that invites the viewer into it and makes him/her a silent participant of the story. His digital collaged images depict celebrities in dreamlike settings as advertisement of luxury products giving the images an original new look. Alex’s digital paintings are composed of a variety of photographic quotes, designs, drawings and special effects to create photographic images he has not always taken but collaged into new uniquely composed settings. Crieger is a photographer who makes art photographs we wish to be real. He’s created compositions of Steve McQueen or Brigitte Bardot that are more beautiful than the truth.
