This lithograph by Auguste Raffet presents a full-length portrait of a young female cantinière (vivandière) from the mid-19th century, created during the period of the Crimean War (1853–1856).
Cantinières, also called vivandières, were women attached to French army regiments who provided soldiers with food, drink, laundry, and sometimes medical care.
Very good condition.
Auguste Raffet was a leading French lithographer and illustrator, initially trained by Théodore Géricault.
