Derived from The Last Sitting photographs taken at the Bel Air Hotel in June–July 1962, these works remain among the most iconic and collectible portrayals of Monroe. Printed by Samper Silkscreen Studios and published by Circle Fine Art, Ltd., this edition was produced on superior B.D. seamless paper with a gold foil surface, giving the image its luminous champagne-toned effect. The work is hand-signed and numbered 77/100 by Stern. This example is beautifully presented in its original custom conservation frame with a gilt wood surround and a cream linen liner, designed to preserve the integrity of the paper and foil surface. His career spanned fashion, advertising, and celebrity portraiture, with clients ranging from Vogue and Glamour to Revlon and Smirnoff Vodka. Stern also created iconic portraits of Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, and Gary Cooper. His most enduring legacy is The Last Sitting (1962), a three-day session with Marilyn Monroe at the Bel-Air Hotel, just weeks before her death. These photographs have become some of the most widely collected and reproduced images of Monroe, cementing Stern’s reputation as the “photographer of beauty.” Stern’s work has been exhibited internationally in New York, London, and Tokyo, and remains part of major museum and private collections worldwide.
