Interested in the world of publishing, journalism and photography, throughout his life he has collaborated with various Italian newspapers to found intellectual magazines, such as Sicilia in 1953. His active participation in the magazine made it famous since the 1960s. He received numerous awards over the years in Italy and abroad. In 2001, Caruso received the gold medal of merit for culture and art from the President of Italy and the following year the Archimedes Prize for the most important Sicilians from around the world.
