Night Return (Original Italian title "Sera- Ritorno") is an original xylograph on paper, a modern artwork realized by the Italian artist Carlo D'Aloisio da Vasto in the Mid XX Century. titled on the lower-left corner "Sera- Ritorno". Hand-signed in pencil on the lower-right corner: C. D'Aloisio da Vasto. Sheet Dimension: 55 x 43.3 cm. Excellent conditions. The artwork represents the group of the riders on their horses on the road, the title of Night Return, intentionally create a gloomy atmosphere of tiredness, which has expressed the heaviness of horses through intense black. The blackness of animals and men indicates to the shadows and night, with the slow movement of horses which made this artwork a vivid artwork, full of emotion with mysterious narration. Carlo D'Aloisio da Vasto (Vasto, 1892 - Rome, 1971) Italian painter and artist. At the age of only sixteen he made his debut, after a self-taught training, in art, successfully exhibiting his first pictorial works in Castellammare Adriatico. In 1914, he left his home in Vasto to come to Rome. He soon became passionate about woodcut and began his illustrator activity collaborating with several period magazines and art books. In 1935, he became director of Palazzo delle Esposizioni and the Gallery of Modern Art, for which he purchased works by Socrates, Trombadori, Donghi, Scipione, Mafai, Melli and other Italian artists. In 1950, he proposed and obtained from the Municipality of Rome the transfer of the Museum of Rome and the Gallery of Modern Art to the current location in Palazzo Braschi. His works are now preserved in the major art galleries of Italy, Europe and America.
