About the Item

A delicate, translucent iteration of David Salle's kaleidescopic layers which are usually painted in large scale. Eyes etched in a liquid ocean of blue and orange aquatint form the ground for a nude woman sketched in red. She gazes contemplatively towards the lower edge of the composition, head resting on her knee. The Universe Mender I, 1990 18.5 x 22.25 in. / 47 x 56.5 cm Etching and aquatint on Hahnemühle wove paper Edition 50. Printed by Aldo Crommelynck and published by Parasol Press, New York. Signed lower right, dated and numbered 27/50 lower left in pencil.
