Egon Schiele
Egon Schiele was a famous Austrian painter and one of the most important exponents in the early 19th century. His artworks are famous especially for their intensity and sensuality; the artist produced a lot of portraits, including naked self-portraits. He can be considered one of the most important exponents of the Expressionism movement for the bodies and the expressive contour lines. In 1909, he abandoned the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and founded the Neukunstgruppe with some friends. In 1910, he moved to a little village with the model, Wally Neuzil, looking for inspiration. Schiele's work has been considered pornographic, disturbing and focused on sex and it caused some troubles for the artist during his life. In 1914, Edith Harms became his wife and his muse. She has been described in some famous artworks of the artist.
