About the Item

Original 1950s SAS Scandinavian Airline System travel by air vintage poster. Linen backed in B+ condition. This poster was restored to the top and bottom left corners. Ready to frame. A seldom-found original SAS midcentury travel poster. Printer: AB Kopia, Stockholm Fritjof Pedersén's art style in the SAS travel poster is a unique blend of mid-century modern Scandinavian design, retro-futurism, and illustrative art, reflecting the aesthetic and design principles of the era in which it was created. UN PAS DE GÉANT . . . ET LA CLASSE TOURISTE / SAS. -Translated- One Giant Leap... ... and TOURIST CLASS / SAS BREAKS THE PRICE BARRIER! SCANDINAVIAN AIRLINES Designed by renowned artist Filjot Pedersen, this vintage travel poster celebrates the airline's revolutionary approach to affordable air travel in the Tourist Class era. The slogan is: "One Giant Leap—Breaks the Price Barrier!" The poster was created for the Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) in the 1960s, a time of great change and innovation in the airline industry. The image features a man walking on clouds in his red checkered pants. His head is the world globe, his scarf is the Scandinavian flag, and an early DC plane is in the sky behind him. The full-color SAS logo in the bottom left shows that it was produced when the airlines started flying. When the airlines introduced jets in the 1960s, the logo was changed to black and white. This is an original vintage poster, not a reproduction!
