About artist.
Hendrikus Elias Roodenburg ( The Hague , July 23, 1895 - Wassenaar , April 27, 1987 ) was a Dutch painter and etcher .
Roodenburg learned the trade from graphic artist Philippe Zilcken . He was best known for his cityscapes from Amsterdam , Rotterdam and Utrecht . In the 1960s , Nutroma was able to save for a coffee and breakfast service from Villeroy & Boch . Roodenburg's black-and-white drawings of Amsterdam cityscapes were depicted on the service .
Roodenburg was a member of prominent artists' associations, such as Arti et Amicitiae and Sint Lucas in Amsterdam and Pulchri Studio in The Hague. In the book HE Roodenburg (1895-1987): topographic etcher is an almost complete overview of the graphic work of Roodenburg. The work of the Hendrikus Elias Roodenburg is held in private and public collections in the Netherlands and Europe, including the collection of the Queen Juliana Of The Netherlands.

About the artist:
Born at Ramsgate, Kent on 12 July 1876, Winifred Austen only daughter of Josiah Austin, a Cornish naval surgeon, and his wife Fanny, née Mann. She amended the spelling of her surname from Austin to Austen from the time that she began to exhibit.
In 1892 the family moved to Hornsey, London from where Austin attended the London County Council School of Arts and Crafts, studying under Cuthbert Swan, an animal painter. I n 1899 Austen exhibited a picture of a lion at the Royal Academy and in all exhibited more than seventy pictures at the Academy, the last in 1961.
She worked in both oils and watercolor but Austen is most highly regarded as an etcher. In all she made some two hundred etched plates, beginning in 1906 with a series entitled The White Heron. She had particular feeling for birds and small mammals, and the naturalist Sir Peter...

Antoine Calbet is the son of Marie Singlande and Jean-Baptiste Calbet, landowner at a place called Gaubert.
Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Montpellier by Édouard - Antoine Marsal (1845-1929) where he learned drawing, this illustrator and illustrator, a painter of nudes and gallant scenes, was very popular during his lifetime.
Antoine Calbet is then admitted to the School of Fine Arts in Paris in the studio of Alexandre Cabanel (1823-1889). He was a member of the admission jury of the Beaux-Arts from 1913 to 1930. He began to exhibit in 1880 and became a member of the Society of French Artists . He was the friend of his compatriot of Lot-et-Garonne, the President of the Republic Armand Fallières , for which he drew the menus of his meals, which made him known in Parisian salons.He illustrated works by Jean Lorrain , Henri de Regnier , Pierre Loues 3 and for periodicals like L'Illustration .
