About the Item
'Flower Piece' shows the artist, John Billmyer, to be a highly accomplished wood engraver. There are endless patterns and created details -- all executed flawlessly. Mostly made up of pansies (viola tricolor) or 'Johnnie-jump-ups,' (Also Jack-in-the-Pulpits?, Queen Anne's Lace and maybe stock?), and the composition calls out spring or very early summer.
This print is signed and titled in pencil. It was published in an edition of 25 by the NYC-WPA, and has a stamp that reads 'Federal Art Project No. 1.'
Although this was made on the NYC Project, Billmyer is mostly associated with Denver, where he was raised and taught for many years.
