Caption: Poolside Countdown: As the final hours tick by, 'Sleek Simon,' 'Vivacious Vera,' and 'Zesty Zack' lounge in anticipation, their spirits undimmed by the looming finale. In this lush Beverly Hills sanctuary, the joy is palpable, the air alive with exuberance. They share stories and dreams over a table of delights, their laughter echoing over the water, all basking in the joyous now. This isn't just a party, it's their vibrant declaration of life, making every second before the end a celebration.

"Poolside Party (2023)" is a playful series of AI-assisted artworks by Lee Wells that reincarnates the Naiades from ancient mythology into lavish 21st-century pool parties. The project began while the artist was in residency in South Crete. During this period, he endeavoured to communicate with the local goddesses through meditation, natural medicine, and various AI tools. These tools served as channelling mediums, helping him gain a deeper understanding of the realms they inhabit, as well as our own. The digital artworks serve as a new form of painting, showcasing intriguing and exquisite figures relaxing and revelling poolside at mesmerising garden house parties. Through this collaborative effort between the artist, the spirits, and AI, the overarching message conveyed is that life is fleeting. Thus, the most crucial thing is to enjoy ourselves, have fun, and strive to love as best we can in this wonderful and strange world we call home.
Lee Wells (b.1971) is a conceptual artist, writer and technology consultant whose work ranges from painting, drawing and photography, to video and new media. His work focuses on systems of power and control in society and has been presented internationally for over 20 years. Most recently his work has investigated the influences of new technologies including artificial intelligence on contemporary life and asks the viewer to reevaluate their perceptions of reality and personal identity. Wells’ work has been included in exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum, PS1/MoMA, Mykonos Biennale, National Center for Contemporary Art Moscow, 51st Venice Biennale, The State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, in addition to numerous universities, festivals, art fairs, and galleries. About the Artist:
Allen's work has gained recognition world-wide for it's complex layering of mixed media works that create a narrative of modern American culture. His work today is a culmination of many years of painting, thinking and experiencing. He blends urban street art with his background of typography, mixed media collage, and abstract expressionism into each of his urban pop expressionist works.
The son of fine artist / commercial artist Harrison Allen, Mark learned a lot very early from his talented father. His think training also includes a bachelor degree in commercial art from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. He continued study at Parson's School of Design in New York City where he had an apartment across the street from Andy Warhol's factory (they met in 1982.) He continued study later at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.
Allen is represented in galleries throughout the world. Museums he has shown in include The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum - Cleveland, OH; Experience Music Project - Seattle, WA; Memphis Brooks Museum of Art; Dallas Museum of Art, and Acadian Museum - Lafayette, LA.
He was a major figure in the graphic design community for over two decades. Much of his celebrated work is from the entertainment industry doing graphic design work for high profile clients including the 'Yu-Gi-Oh' logo, 'The Wizard of Oz' 60th Anniversary logo, redesigned Coca-Cola bottles, designed 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' logo for Disney and art directed for recording artist Sean 'P Diddy...
