Original print by Lucien Gautier after the original painting by T. Rousseau. Etching and aquatint. Perfect conditions. Collect the magician landscapes by the French Barbizon school artists! Lucien Marcellin Gautier (Aix-en-Provence 1850 - 1925) The French engraver was firstly pupil of Gibert and Marius Reinaud in Aix-en-Provence, then Léon Gaucherel in Paris. From 1875, he realized views of Marseille and surrounding neighborhoods. He moved to Paris in 1883 and obtained a post at the police headquarters where he organized a photographic service. From 1881 to 1886, he was illustrator at the magazine L'Art. He exhibited his etchings at the Salon of French Artists from 1880 to 1924. After a trip to Italy and Scotland, he presented at the Salon of 1884 The Forum in Rome and Lake Lhomond in Scotland, which earned him an honorable mention. Also an engraver of interpretation, he obtains a third class medal for Bergerie after Charles Jacque in 1894, a medal of 2nd class for the Dredge of the bridge Louis Philippe in Paris in 1898, and a medal of 1st class for Le Passeur after Corot and Gothic Vision, triptych in 1912. In 1901, he received a commission from the State for the engraving of The Battle of Hondschoote after Jules Dupré. This artwork is shipped from Italy.
