About

Lenti Radio-Attive is a colored lithographed original manifesto on cardboard, realized in 1912 by the Italian artist Luigi Caldanzano. Printed by Officine Ricordi, Milan, this advertising poster for "Lenti Radio-Attive": the active lenses were an invention of the first of the XX century, thet certain companies explored illuding with this manifesto signing up the ignorant buyers which could see the miraculously nude also though dressed. This modern artwork is signed on plate on the higher right margin and has the inscriptions printed on lower margin, under the image: "L. Caldanzano / Off. G. Ricordi and C. Milano / 100 x 140". In excellent conditions, except for the lower right corner a little bit damaged. This original print shows the vintage Art Nouveau taste and the incredible Caldanzano's draftsmanship and his full mastery of the artistic medium, has the dignity of an object of art to collect in your fashionable and sophisticated home furniture. Luigi Calzanzano (Cagliari 1880 - Genoa 1928) He trained in Rome and Paris. He worked at the Ricordi Officine Grafiche in the fist years of Ten's of the XX century, designing posters and covers for musical works. His oldest known manifesto is that for the "Cuisinières en tous genres" of 1907, while in 1912 he signed the one for the "Active Radio Lenses". In the field of affiches he devoted himself mainly to cinematographic subjects such as the series of posters for "Cabiria" by Pastrone of 1914, made together with Leopoldo Metlicovitz, with which he entered in particular harmony. During the war he dedicated himself without great success to the renewal of Sardinian ceramics. He continued his activity as a poster designer in the 1920s but not always with interesting results. Years later he drew two posters of caricature taste and bold compositional cuts, one for the "Bitter Pastore" of 1910 and the other for the "Cordial Campari. Even the only manifesto created for Mele is of a caricature genre, but the characteristic of Caldenzano is that of knowing how to use different languages and tones and in opposition to each other. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork.
