Marco Lodola
Ballerini - Screenprint by Marco Lodola - 1990s

1990s

About the Item

The proposed print is a screenprint print produced on fine paper with a print run of 20 artist's proof copies, in very good condition. The screenprint print bears the print number with the print run in Roman numbers in the lower left-hand margin and the artist's hand signature in the right-hand margin on the front. Marco Lodola is an artist represented by the Studio d'Arte Raffaelli (Trento), which in 2020 hosted a group exhibition entitled 'Revival' involving Marco Lodola together with other neo-futurists. Playfulness and lightness, characteristics that also punctually define Lodola's works, decreed the international success of the neo-futurist movement, which developed in Milan between 1983 and 1984 and rapidly spread throughout Europe. Thanks to their immediacy of interpretation and usable messages fully in tune with their times, the exponents of Nuovo Futurismo became the prophets in the artistic sphere of a cultural temperament that was to affect all areas of creativity, from design to fashion, music and television. Best known for his light sculptures, Marco Lodola attended the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence and Milan. In the early 1980s he founded the Nuovo Futurismo movement, theorized by critic Renato Barilli, together with a group of artists (Abate, Innocente, Postal, Plumcake). Lodola combined visual art with other disciplines, such as literature, music, film and design. He soon approached the use of plastic materials, which he shaped and coloured with a personal technique using acrylic paints. Later, his research led him to try to physically insert light into his works: the luminous sculptures were born, Plexiglas statues lit internally with luminous tubes, which were to characterize his entire artistic production.
