Cabin I: modernist, urban architectural monoprint & collage in gray, blue, black

"Cabin I" is a Bauhaus-inspired monotype and collage (work on paper) reminiscent of the aesthetic of Le Corbusier. It is part of Bouton’s "Habitat and Urban Matter" series, which is inspired by the straight lines of modernist architecture and hard-edged geometrical forms of the urban environment. Bouton, a French printmaker from Paris who has also lived in London, Myanmar, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Turkey, creates work that responds to her experiences during her travels and the cultures she encountered. Since settling in the Philadelphia area, she has been inspired by the urbanism of the city, whether a sleek, new apartment block, an abandoned warehouse, or a half-demolished home. Her latest works are interpretations of these buildings, with both broad street views and focused details from single structures –- the pattern of the skyline, a patchwork of broken windows, an industrial color palette. She is drawn to the history of the spaces and lives lived within these buildings, as well as their intrinsic beauty of the structures, whether that beauty emerges from design or degradation, or some combination of the two. Bouton is a French artist living and working in the Philadelphia area whose boundary-pushing printmaking and paper works exhibit influence from living and working in international cities across the globe. Bouton earned her BFA in Painting and Printmaking and her MFA in Arts and Textile Design from the prestigious ESSAA Duperré in Paris, France. Many of the depicted scenes were inspired by moments where Fahnestock was astonished by something that was equal parts mesmerizing and distressing. “Seeing my first wildfire in person, or the images of San Francisco covered in an orange haze, all the while recognizing that these things were in fact terrible. Rob Woodcox is a fine art and fashion photographer currently living between Mexico City, Los Angeles and New York City. Rob's surrealistic contemporary style has developed into a dedication for advocacy and making strained voices heard through visual storytelling. Rob has produced projects raising consciousness and conversation around the US foster system and adoption, queer identity, body neutrality, racial diversity and environmental justice. Born in Bristol England, in 1965, Damien Hirst grew up in Leeds and studied at Goldsmiths College, London. Most notable amongst the exhibitions he curated while at college was Freeze, in 1988, in which he exhibited his work and that of his contemporaries. The exhibition is widely believed to have been the starting point of the Young British Artist Movement, and a defining moment in kick-starting cutting edge British contemporary art.
Hirst’s body of work confronts the scientific, philosophical and religious aspects of human existence and includes sculpture, painting and printmaking. He has exhibited widely and was awarded the Turner Prize in 1995 for The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living. In 2004, Hirst collaborated with Sarah Lucas and Angus Fairhurst to exhibit recent works at Tate Britain, under the title In-a-Gadda-da-Vida.

Kate Garner evolved in the edgy pop-punk heyday of 1980’s London. By the time she was in her early 20s, she was well on her way to becoming one of the most enigmatic fine art photographers of our time. But it didn’t start that way. Until Kate was 19, she had spent most of her time in a tough mining town in the north of England. It was a practical place with practical people that studied practical vocations and couldn't afford to let themselves dream too much.
Growing up, Kate had expected a similar existence, but it was never what she had envisioned. Like much of her class, she attended formal trade education at the local vocational college after graduating secondary school and spending a year hitch-hiking from England, through Europe, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan to India Garner came back from India and started to study commercial photography, and in Northern England, that meant--pots and pans. But, Kate knew she was different and would often take herself down into the thriving metropolis of London to see and experience the vibrant Mecca of arts and creatives.
Her creative path took a pivotal point when her wanderings introduced her to the Blitz Kids. The art students and teenage squatters took her in, and It wasn’t long before she began shooting the streets with London’s party scene artisans and gender-bending pioneers. Working with John Galliano, Stephen Jones, Boy George, and later even David Bowie--Kate became fully immersed in the New Romantic...

"Moda" is one of Rosie Emerson's newest pieces from her fashion inspired photographic series. This is a photopolymer etching with embossing on paper, framed in a custom box black frame.
This is an edition of 12, and each piece is slightly different because they are each hand-made.

Rosie Emerson, born in 1981, is a contemporary artist working almost exclusively on representing the female form. Emerson’s figures draw reference from archetypes old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model, each solitary figure, an allegory of her own fantasy. Interested in surface, the interplay between photography and painting. Emerson’s works are playful constructs; Photography is used, not as a device for capturing reality but for creating romanticised optical illusions.
Inspired by her love of theatre, performance, shrines and rituals, she uses lighting, costume, set and prop making, alongside printmaking and painting to create other worldly one off pieces. Her photography is inspired by both the drama of the baroque, and ethereal qualities of Pre Raphaelite works. Other important influences include late medieval and renaissance paintings, Japanese prints, and magical realist literature.
Emerson’s screen-prints use unusual materials including charcoal powder, ash and saw dust to shift the focus of printmaking from accuracy and replication to the creation of unique, hand-finished prints with subtle texture.
She explains ‘By combining photography with painting it allows me to balance energy and precision, and create something, which despite hours of planning will still surprise me in its results.’
Her recent Cyanotype works enable her to montage objects with real size photographic negatives. Using UV light from the sun to expose objects and images directly on to the sensitized surface, the works are often hand painted or gilded with gold leaf. Emerson describes ‘the technique itself has an element of magic about it, it also a wonderful discovery to be able to combine painting, collage and photography in this way’’.
Emerson’s work is widely collected and exhibited both in the UK as well as internationally, through galleries, art fairs and museums. She has also worked with brands and individuals including Harvey Nichols, The Ivy Club, Sony, Triumph Underwear, Redbull, P&O Cruises, and Annoushka jewelry...

Kate Garner evolved in the edgy pop-punk heyday of 1980’s London. By the time she was in her early 20s, she was well on her way to becoming one of the most enigmatic fine art photographers of our time. But it didn’t start that way. Until Kate was 19, she had spent most of her time in a tough mining town in the north of England. It was a practical place with practical people that studied practical vocations and couldn't afford to let themselves dream too much.
Growing up, Kate had expected a similar existence, but it was never what she had envisioned. Like much of her class, she attended formal trade education at the local vocational college after graduating secondary school and spending a year hitch-hiking from England, through Europe, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan to India Garner came back from India and started to study commercial photography, and in Northern England, that meant--pots and pans. But, Kate knew she was different and would often take herself down into the thriving metropolis of London to see and experience the vibrant Mecca of arts and creatives.
Her creative path took a pivotal point when her wanderings introduced her to the Blitz Kids. The art students and teenage squatters took her in, and It wasn’t long before she began shooting the streets with London’s party scene artisans and gender-bending pioneers.
