About the Item

This new Pedro Friedeberg piece was developed in collaboration with CAM Galería as a special edition. Pedro Friedeberg is an artist and designer from Mexico of Italian origin, known for his surreal work full of lines, colors, and ancient religious symbols. His best-known piece is the “ManoChair”: a sculpture/chair designed to sit on the palm, using the fingers as backrests and armrests. Friedeberg began to study architecture but did not finish his studies. He began to produce designs that went against the conventional forms of the 1950s, some as incredible as houses with artichoke roofs. His work caught the attention of Mathías Goeritz who encouraged him to continue his career as an artist. Friedeberg became part of a group of Mexican surrealist artists, including Leonora Carrington and Alicia Rahon, noted for their irreverence, rejecting the dominant social and political art at the time. Friedeberg has gained a reputation as an eccentric and claims that art is dead because nothing new has been produced.

Corazon De Aztlan, by Frank Romero
By Frank Romero
Located in Palm Springs, CA
"Corazón De Aztlán," a vibrant print by Chicano artist Frank Romero, encapsulates the complex interplay of cultural identity, love, and urban life. The artwork showcases a striking heart motif, layered with abstract shapes and colors that evoke the spirit of Aztlán, the mythical ancestral home of the Aztec people. Among the bold designs, a subtly hidden image of a car emerges, symbolizing the fusion of traditional heritage with modernity and the everyday experiences of Chicano life in urban settings. This duality reflects the artist's exploration of cultural pride, community, and the journey of self-discovery, making it a poignant representation of contemporary Chicano art. Throughout his 50-year career as an artist, Frank Romero has been a dedicated member of the Los Angeles arts community. As a member of the 1970s Chicano art collective, Los Four, Romero and fellow artists Carlos Almaraz, Beto de la Rocha...
