About the Item

Artist Name: Philippe Noyer Title: Le Singe: Medium Type: Lithograph Size-Width Size-Height: 35" x 25" Signed Edition Size: signed in pencil and marked EA XVII/XXX Unframed in Very Good Condition. Noyer's artistic journey began in 1943 when he embarked on his painting career. During that time, he had the privilege of meeting Emmanuel David, a renowned Paris art dealer who championed the celebrated "School of Paris" painters from 1943 to 1950. Recognizing Noyer's talent, David wasted no time in signing him to a contract with the prestigious DROUANT-DAVID Gallery of Paris. In the early years of his career, Noyer's paintings depicted owls enveloped in leaves and round-faced urchins accompanied by their beloved pets. However, it was his exceptional ability as a portraitist that quickly earned him a place among the most sought-after artists in Paris and London high society. His portraits captured the essence of his subjects with remarkable precision and grace. Today, Noyer's artistic legacy shines brightly, with over 2,000 of his oil paintings and watercolors finding a home in museums, collections, and private collections around the world. Each piece is a testament to Noyer's mastery of his craft and his unique ability to capture the beauty and essence of his subjects.
