About the Artist: Ronnie Cutrone (American, b.1948) is a Pop artist renowned for his vibrant, satirical paintings of American cartoon characters. He attended the School of Visual Arts in New York from 1966 to 1970, where he painted figurative images of rescue and survival. In 1970, he turned his attention toward sculpture and drawing. Among the works he created was a group of iron cages known as The Getting to Know You Cage, several of which were displayed at the Mudd Club, a nightclub run by Cutrone from 1979 to 1982. Cutrone also served as assistant to Andy Warhol between 1972 and 1980.

Ronnie Cutrone
Ronnie Cutrone was a Pop artist best known for his large scale paintings and drawings of America's cartoon characters, such as Felix the Cat, Pink Panther and Woody Woodpecker. As Andy Warhol's assistant at The Factory from 1972 to 1980, Warhol's most productive and prestigious years, Cutrone worked side by side with the Pop Master on paintings, prints, films, and concepts. It was during these years that he developed his own style that critics called Post-Pop. Cutrone's works have been exhibited at: The Whitney Museum - NY, The Museum of Modern Art - NY, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen - Rotterdam, The Museum of contemporary Art - LA and numerous international fine art galleries.

Modern figurative print of world champion female wrestler Mary Lillian Ellison (American, 1923-2007), also known as The Fabulous Moolah. The artist of this print is unknown. Unsigned and undated. Presented in a modern frame with Plexiglass. Image size: 26”H x 20L".
During her lifetime, Moolah was lauded as a leading figure in women's professional wrestling and was considered one of the industry's greatest wrestlers. Moolah's first World Championship reign lasted over ten years. Moolah successfully defended the belt against the top female wrestlers in the world, such as Judy Grable and Donna Christanello, while also purporting to befriend some of the biggest celebrities of the day such as Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. She became the first woman to be inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1999, she became the oldest champion in the history of professional wrestling when she won the Women's Championship for a final time at age 76 in 1999.

In the postwar era of the 1950s and 1960s, the United States was in the midst of a period of economic growth for the middle class, and so the trappings and imagery of middle class life became the subjects of a number of artists. While figures like Andy Warhol focused on images of celebrities and soup cans, here DiMattio looks to robots and rockets.
