The Harem is a black and white héliogravure on paper, realized in 1906 by an anonymous Austrian artist.
An original illustration for the German translation of the popular "One Thousand and One Nights" stories, a bookplate titled Das Buch der Tausend Nächte und der einen Nacht (C.W. Stern, 1906).
Demonstrating the masterful draftsmanship and graphic skills, this is an unmistakable new Art Nouveau illustration affected by the dominant exotism tendency in the early XX century.
With the fresh impression, wide margins, in excellent condition, including a silver-painted wooden frame.
This original print represents an erotic scene with two sensual harem slave girls portrayed in an idyllic view, smiling and covered by precious fabrics and jewels.
