About the Item
"Basket of Begonias" is a reproduction of a work by Henri Matisse created using his signature cut-out technique. The original artwork was made in 1941, during a period when Matisse was exploring cut-outs as a new form of artistic expression. Matisse chose to use black and white to emphasize form and structure, focusing on the interplay of shapes and negative space rather than the colorful aspects of the begonias. This approach allowed him to highlight composition and abstraction.
The reproduction is framed in black matte wood with a ¾ inch front profile and a ¾ inch side profile. The overall dimensions of the framed piece are approximately 14.5 x 10.5 x ¾ inches.
