About the Item

Jean-Michel Basquiat, Now’s the Time, 1985/2021 Lithograph print on Monte Carlo 300gsm watercolour paper framed in a sustainably sourced black ash with acrylic glaze. Image size: 55 x 55 cm (21.65 x 21.65 in) Framed size 62 x 62 cm (24.40 x 24.40 in) Cut from a large plywood disk, 'Now's the Time' mimics a vinyl pressing of the jazz legend Charlie Parker's album of the same name. Jean-Michel Basquiat paid homage to the musician as he was also an uncompromising black artist. Parker was recognised for his development of the contemporary jazz variant bebop, that was characterised by an accomplished technique and a fast tempo.
