AL HIRSCHFELD (1903-2003) An American caricaturist best known for his black & white portraits of famous celebrities and Broadway stars. Hirschfeld traveled to Paris and London where he studied painting, drawing, as well as sculpting. Upon his return to America, he was recruited by a fabled Broadway press agent who enlisted him as a drawing editor at The New York Times. During this time, he discovered his unique style which later went on to influence countless artists, illustrators, and cartoonists. Hirschfeld has had his work commissioned around the world and remains, to this day, one of the most influential caricaturists of his time.
