Original California Wine Country vintage poster by Earl Thollander. Archival linen backed in very fine condition, ready to frame.
Earl Thollander was an American artist, illustrator, author, and a WWII U.S. Navy officer who is best known for his marine scene paintings, sketching, travel book writing, and tour leading. He became famous for his drawings, such as of Mount Saint Helena and scenes from Napa Valley.
The artist provides some comparisons of the grape-growing regions of California to areas in Europe. (Vineyards near the towns of Napa, Santa Cruz, and Santa Rosa are very cool, similar to the grape-growing areas of Switzerland and the Rhine, Mozelle, and Champagne districts in Europe. Other regions are also provided with similar comparisons. Specific grape-growing grape-growing regions and regions are outlined.
The poster's colors are bright and vibrant. It is in very good condition with only minor edge wear, no tears, and no paper loss.
