About the Item

The House on the Water is an original artwork realized by Jacques Thévenet in the XX Century. Original lithograph on paper. Hand-signed in pencil on plate. Numbered on the lower left corner. Edition of 30 prints. Excellent conditions. Passepartout included (cm 32.5 x 43.5). Very fresh and luminous impression representing some buildings that reflect on the surface of the water. The lithograph is characterized by a brilliance and a very soft stroke. The composition is characterized by a very interesting disposition of the volumes of the composition. This artwork has been realized by the French artist, painter and engraver Jacques Thévenet (Nièvre, 1891 - Paris, 1989). The artist studied at the Académie Julian and, after the World War I, in 1919, he worked as a decorator at the atelier of Marcel Mathelin who became his master and teached him the art of engraving and the different techniques of the graphic art. In 1922, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants where he met the art ctitic Roger Allard. Thévenet worked for several magazines realizing the illustrations. In 1997, a catalogue has been published to rememeber his work. This artwork is shipped from Italy.
