About the Item
This collagraph print was created during the mid-1970's when John Ross and his family were spending summers in the Southwest. Ross brought forward and mastered the collagraph. “A collagraph is essentially a print from a collage plate made from a variety of materials glued together on masonite, cardboard, a metal plate or other such material. This collage plate is inked by the intaglio method [printing plate in which the image is sunk below the surface], leaving the recessions or indentations to hold the ink and therefore print when run through the press with dampened paper.” - Ross/Romano, "The Complete Printmaker," 1972.
This impression is signed, titled and inscribed "A/P" (artist proof) in pencil. The edition of this print is unknown. The paper and image size are the same 22 3/8 x 29 3/4."
