Paris Review (Lt. Ed. S/N) 1960s print by renowned Pop Artist abstract landscape
Located in New York, NY
Allan D'Arcangelo Paris Review, 1964-5 Silkscreen 32 × 26 inches Signed and numbered from the limited Edition of 150 pencil signed, numbered and dated on the front Unframed Published by the Paris Review, Printed by Steven Poleskie at Chiron Press, New York Allan D'Arcangelo created this work in 1964 as a benefit print for the eponymous Paris Review magazine which invited some of the most famous artists of the era to contribute. Over the next decade, D'Arcangelo would continue to receive significant recognition in the art world - exhibiting at Fischbach and then Marlborough Galleries in Manhattan. He was well known for his paintings of the iconic American highway, along with his depictions of desolate, industrial landscapes. In her essay "Ghost on the Highway: Allan D'arcangelo's Haunting Americana", Alice Bucknell writes, "A born-and-bred New Yorker, D’Arcangelo spent his due time trawling through the Bible Belt of the Deep South and the dizzying expanse of the Southwest desert as well as the more expected outposts of New York and L.A. Taking a particular favor to the way acrylic interacts with light — how it avoids the glistening sheen of oil, and how the flatness of the medium masks the presence of the artist’s hand — D’Arcangelo teases out complex ideas of the highway’s reality and representation, its rampant commercialization and maddening isolation, as well as escapism and entrapment as two split personalities of American infrastructure space through his signature flattening one-point perspective. “My most profound experiences of landscape were looking through the windshield,” D’Arcangelo explained to Marco Livingstone in the spring of 1988 while the two drove from New York City to the artist’s studio in upstate New York: an idiosyncratic interview included in the exhibition catalogue. “The sky, the tree line and the pavement all have the same quality, and it has to do with our separation from the natural world.” Far from the sugar...

"Fisherman's Wharf - San Francisco" Multi Layer Screen Print on Paper - Signed
Located in Soquel, CA
"Fisherman's Wharf - San Francisco" Multi Layer Screen Print on Paper - Signed Rare and bold Screen Print (Silk Screen) of Fisherman's Wharf 1957 by Gordon Cope (American, 1906-1999). Several boats are docked at Fisherman's Wharf, with buildings directly behind them. In the distance, the hills of San Francisco can be seen meeting a pale blue sky. Of particular note is the skillful representation of the reflections of the boats in the water, and the clever use of grey paper as negative space. Numbered and titled in pencil in the lower left corner "22/100 Fisherman's Wharf - San Francisco" Hand signed and dated in pencil in the lower right corner "Gordon Cope 1957" Titled, signed, and dated "in plate" Presented in a silver colored frame with a double mat. Frame size: 22.5"H x 27"W Image size: 15"H x 20"W Gordon N. Cope (American, 1906-1999) was an educator and painter. Trained in Utah and France, he exhibited his landscape paintings and portraits in the United States and Europe, and he believed music was related to painting. Cope was born on May 14, 1906, in Salt Lake City. He was trained by Utahn artists LeConte Stewart and Lawrence Squires, and at the Académie Julian in Paris, France in 1928. He also studied singing at the Opéra-Comique. Cope taught art at Latter-day Saints University, and he served as the chair of its Department of Art in 1930–1931. He taught at the Mountain School of Art from 1932 to 1938, and he was the director of the Art Barn School in Salt Lake City in 1939–1941. Cope painted Utahn landscapes as well as a portrait of Henry H. Blood, who served as the seventh governor of Utah from 1933 to 1941. Cope exhibited his work in the United States and Europe. According to the Deseret News, Cope "felt that music and painting are closely interrelated, and that the study of one form may be used to complement the appreciation and understanding of the other." Cope died on June 10, 1999, in San Francisco, California. Gordon Nicholson Cope studied with well-known Utah artists A.B. Wright and LeConte Stewart, and became recognized as a major Utah artist of the Great Depression. Cope was born in Salt Lake City in 1906 and spent much of his life in Utah. Cope gained much of his artistic training from diverse environments and influences. Following his training with the previously mentioned artists, Cope spent the next year, 1924, working with Lawrence Squires in Arizona. To expand his knowledge and training, Cope traveled to Europe, where he studied the "old masters" such as Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. From 1924 to 1928, Cope studied in England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, and worked for a year at the Acadamie Julian, where many early Utah artists...

AURORA'S GARLAND Signed Serigraph, Architectural Landscape, Moon, Lamp Post
Located in Union City, NJ
AURORA'S GARLAND is an imaginary architectural landscape that combines the real and the surreal. Created in 1995 by the Iowa born artist Jim Buckels (b.1948) known for his dream-like images, rendered in a meticulous, modern airbrush technique. This limited edition screenprint was printed using hand silk screen printing techniques on heavyweight archival printmaking paper, very fine details superb quality craftsmanship. AURORA'S GARLAND presents the viewer with a dreamlike metaphysical landscape luxuriant with shades of cool blues, dark greens, grays, beige, pink lavender, magenta pink, yellow, off white and black. A peaceful moonlit garden scene accented by two winged cherub statues in the foreground holding onto a glowing lamp post. An elegant and fanciful, rose tinted French maison rendered in a Chiâteauesque architectural style, sets the scene as it stands glowing with light beside a mirror-still pool of water, surrounded by a textural stone wall, precisely trimmed hedges, lush leafy trees, and flowering shrubbery. AURORA'S GARLAND creates a fairytale ambience reminiscent of the magical works of the renowned 1920's illustrator Maxfield Parrish. 11 " x 11.5" print size, unframed, excellent condition, signed in gold ink pen...
