About Ina Mare Veen:
Mare Veen is an independent Visual Artist from the Netherlands. She has a background in theatre and graduated from the Photo Academy in Amsterdam spring 2017.
Her current academic function is 'Programme coordinator and Tutor International Master Artist Educator at ArtEZ University of the Arts'.
Mare uses photography and video and often writes monologues to go with a series of images.
"A monologue helps me to organize my research on the subject.
More importantly however, it allows me to crawl into the skin and deepen my understanding of an individual's feelings with regard to the central theme."
Her work revolves around philosophical questions. As an artist, she seeks to respond to locations that she carefully chooses.
"I intervene using materials alien to the location. I direct my models thereby often challenging their physical abilities.
I seek to find a relationship between a subject or an object and location that is interesting because it is surprising, in perfect harmony or in a way alienating."

Published by the Generali Foundation, Austria on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition. About the exhibition:
Hans Haacke (born in 1936 in Cologne, GER, has lived in New York, USA, since 1965) focused on "a single problem area: how the country deals with its history and national identity. More than I care for, these questions stir up emotions both in Austria and Germany." Haacke had been originally concerned with physical and biological systems. Very early on, his artistic practice also included the analysis of and reflection on socio-political phenomena. Haacke's work deals with social and political themes. He considers the debates arising from his works - fierce at times - to be an integral part of them.
