About the Item

A TIME TO HEAL - 20 x 16 inches Limited edition broadside (a poetry & art letterpress/archival pigment print) signed and numbered by the artist. Edition size: 100 + 10 artist proofs (This broadside will be available in the following languages: Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, French, Spanish, German & Turkish) ARTIST STATEMENT: I wrote this poem in Paris a few days after we heard the outcome of the U.S. presidential election. It was a grief stricken day for some and a jubilant day for others. For one who was born in another country and raised in America, I believe that by listening to and learning from one another we can make our world a far better place than it is today. With the changes happening in all corners of the globe, will come clarity. I do not agree with many things that are happening today, however, I know that we will find a way to be better, stronger and more compassionate as a people and nation and send that message to the rest of the world that is in pain today. On my Facebook page, it asks, "What is your religion?" My answer: love, peace and freedom. Having said that, I believe that we have to use our brains and our hearts in a positive and compassionate way. I hope my poem will touch a cord in people's hearts to learn to listen to one another and search for a way to help make our world a place of peace and prosperity for all." A TIME TO HEAL It’s time, my friends. It’s time. That magical dimension of time When we cannot stop the moon from dying Or cage the sunrise at its birth. We reach for clothes of new colors. Poised, ready for action, For a new day, A new way. Some succumb to the winds of change. Some win to make the change. Yet, the joyful and crestfallen Live in the same house. How, you ask, can we live together? How can we release our fears, Our ego Our grief, Our indignation Our provocation? I....am here to tell you. You there, with the gun in your hand Embrace your neighbor The one who fears you. And you, with the weapon of your mind Embrace your neighbor The one who fears your words. Take my hand, you, Who fears a thought different from yours. Feel the pulse of the one You think not right as you. And you, who feels betrayed, Listen to the heart of your betrayer, Who thinks you betrayed him. Because in the end We are all the same. Take this moment to take a hand And look into that face, Whatever color or thought it has. Show a bow of respect. Those of you who want to shine from sea to sea Do something magnificent! Offer kindness and generosity Even if you fear it will not be appreciated Even if you feel they do not deserve it Do it any way. BE BIG! Those of you with power Show the heart of a people A city A nation A heart so vast the entire world can fit into it! You asked for change? Here it is, my friends. Each of you wants more from the other. But how can you ask If you don’t give yourself? How can you hear If you don’t listen? Each of you wants love, joy, peace, serenity In your own way On your own day. It’s time, my friends. It’s time. A time to heal. To reap. To change. It begins In your heart. your mind, your eyes, your lips, your hands… Take my hand and lead me. Take my hand and follow me. Let’s hold one another in awe In love, In light Let’s protect one another our home, our earth, our sky. You wonder, Who am I to ask this of you? I am the child of dreamers The pioneers of faith Of hard work, Inspiration Imagination Courage Resilience. I am mother, daughter, sister, Lover, partner, friend, I am red, black, pink, white, brown, yellow. I am father, son, brother, Lover, partner, friend I live in a world of latitude, A meridian of brightness and possibility. My ancestors strove to unite my north, my south, my east, my west For me, for you, for us. Let’s take this step together. Let’s dissolve our fears. Let’s jump! Into another sunrise. I have one wing. You have another. Together, we can fly! © Arica Hilton 2017

Nora Speyer Untitled, from the Long Point Gallery Portfolio, 1988 Lithograph on paper with deckled edges Hand signed, numbered 22/30 and dated on lower front 22 × 15 inches Unframed Hand signed, numbered 22/30 and dated on lower front Publisher: Long Point Gallery, Inc., Provincetown, Massachusetts; Printer: Bruce Porter from Trestle Editions Limited, New York Rarely to market, this stunning 1988 woodcut was created by Nora Speyer as part of a portfolio produced for sale by Long Point Gallery, an artist's cooperative in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Superb provenance as it is was acquired from the original Long Point Portfolio. This will be the first time the work will be removed from the portfolio. It is hand signed and numbered from a very small edition of only 30; it is in fine condition, unframed and never framed, and housed in the original portfolio box, with the original colophon page, which also included works by 11 other artists. For reference and provenance we have included an image of the colophon page from the complete portfolio. About Nora Speyer: The most exciting place to me is where I can communicate with the greatest number of artists. I can't live without some artists around. I'm not saying artists are likable. They can be very objectionable, but they are still my world. Nora Speyer Born in Pittsburgh, Speyer enrolled at Temple University's Tyler School of Art when she was sixteen. It was there she became roommates with Lillian Lent...
