About the Item
LP05-SP is a silkscreen print of Eric Mast’s "light painting", LP05 and was printed at Brackett Creek in Montana.
Using abstract drawings rendered in Adobe Flash as the point of departure, Mast creates his "light paintings" by coding LED lights diffused behind canvas, to create colors that shift and change within and around geometric compositions. Moving freely between palettes and hues, Mast reveals a certain pictorial alchemy as he experiments with color, patterns and flattened volumes and depths-of-field.
These pieces were inspired by his time spent in Chongqing, China’s sign-making district.
The silkscreen print LP05-SP depicts the moment in the "light painting" as the colors morph on canvas, mid-transition, in masterfully printed gradients.
