About the Item

"Soccer Football" by Fritz Genkinger is a striking color offset lithograph from 1970. The design presents a stylized, modernist composition featuring a soccer ball formed by typographic elements, positioned against a dynamic background of an athlete's feet and a green field. The vibrant color palette, combined with impressionistic touches, gives the piece a sense of movement and energy, while its abstract and avant-garde layout makes it a bold and eye-catching work.

Original 'Soccer' vintage lithograph posters a.k.a. "Heads Up", Spain
Located in Spokane, WA
Original Soccer vintage sports poster. Linen backed in very good condition, ready to frame. Printed by Ortega Company in Valencia. This type of untitled vintage poster was commonly printed and the date of an upcoming game and team would be added at the bottom of the poster. Soccer games were played quite often, allowing the local team to advertise their events without reprinting a new poster for each game or event. This poster was printed as a full lithograph, so it was expensive to produce. There is no specific designation of which two teams are being shown here in this antique poster The poster has a nickname of ‘heads-up,” as two of the players are in the air as they position themselves to control the soccer ball. Valencia two main clubs, FC València and Levante UD, attract hordes of fans to their matches. Both clubs play in the First Division of La Liga...

The Football Players
By Bernard Aptekar
Located in New York, NY
As art historian and writer Suzanne Ramljak wrote "the ambivalent relationship between humanity and machinery has informed Aptekar's art from the start and remains a central theme in his work. Like many of the issues Aptekar addresses, technology is not without contradiction." The shocking imagery of juxtaposed human and natural forms with mechanical elements, using clear contours and colors, is certainly not oblivious of Fernand Leger latest work and what he called "the law of contrast". At the same time, the political and social commentary that are a constant inherent component of Aptekar's work has it's roots in the work of Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, who Apterkar met at age of 11. The outcome is an imagery of an extraordinary visual impact and absolutely unique to Aptekar's own creative process. This work "The Football Players...
