About the Item
Forest is a beautiful etching artwork realized by the French artist Henri Farge (1884-1970). Hand-signed on the lower right.
The state of preservation is excellent.
The artwork is representing a landscape of forest with a seated man on the background lower left, expressed through soft and confident strokes, the expression is dynamic at the same time poetical.
Henri Farge (1884-1970) is an engraver and painter. His paintings and monotypes, exhibited in June 1920 at the Devambez Gallery, are oriented towards which one of these recurring themes will emerge: the Quais de la Seine, the perspectives which are open on the outskirts of Paris, their animation restored by the movements of the beacons, their bookstores, or their petty personages on the vif (The Pont des Arts). Since 1923, Henri Farge has been part of an important circle of artists (along with Pierre Brissaud, Edgar Chahine, Jean Droit, Tsugouharu Foujita and Alméry Lobel-Riche). He "was able to reveal picturesque scenes" which produced a "timing of the epochs and places that inspired them.
