About the Item
This 1992 original poster by Spanish contemporary artist Miquel Barceló was created for the Festival d'Automne à Paris, a multidisciplinary celebration of music, theatre, dance, and cinema. Known for inviting some of the most experimental and avant-garde creators from around the world, the festival’s collaboration with Barceló perfectly reflects its bold and unorthodox spirit.
Rendered in the artist’s raw and gestural style, the composition features two haunting, loosely-formed animals—one dark and dense, the other pale and spectral—entwined in a mysterious interaction. The rough brushwork, expressive textures, and earthy palette create an atmosphere that feels primal, instinctual, and deeply emotional. The handwritten title “Festival d’Automne Paris 1992” is scrawled at the top with childlike urgency, underscoring the unfiltered creative energy that defines both Barceló’s work and the festival itself.
Born in 1957 in Mallorca, Miquel Barceló is one of Spain’s most internationally acclaimed contemporary artists. His practice spans painting, sculpture, ceramics, and installations, often exploring themes of nature, decay, metamorphosis, and the human condition. He gained global recognition in the 1980s, with his works exhibited in major institutions including the Louvre and the UN Palace in Geneva.
This poster is more than an advertisement—it is a visceral visual poem that encapsulates the restless, exploratory nature of the Festival d'Automne. It stands as both a collectible artifact and a striking example of how fine art can elevate cultural promotion into an emotional and intellectual encounter.

Miquel Barceló
Miquel Barceló makes abstract, mixed-media paintings that capture the diversity of the natural world and reflect his extensive travels. Like Pablo Picasso and Francisco de Goya before him, the artist pushes the boundaries of representation. His hazy white canvases, for example, capture the light rebounding off the Sahara. On a canvas installed at the United Nations headquarters, a multicolored dome of stalactite forms evokes the sea and a cave. Thickly impastoed works translate the dynamism and energy of bullfighting rings into warm hues. Barceló gives these works their signature tactility as he incorporates unconventional materials such as homemade pigments, volcanic ash, seaweed, and river sediment. He has exhibited widely in cities around the world, and in 2009, he represented Spain at the Venice Biennale. His work has sold for seven figures at auction and belongs to many prestigious collections around the world, including the Centre Pompidou, the Museo Reina Sofía, the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Barceló has also made sculptures and installations.

1982 vintage poster by Razzia for the Paris Posters exhibition
By Razzia (Gérard Courbouleix–Dénériaz)
Located in PARIS, FR
This striking 1982 vintage poster, designed by Razzia, was created to promote the Paris Posters exhibition at the Musée de l’Affiche et de la Publicité during the summer (Été 82). Featuring a bold and graphic collage-style composition, the artwork embodies the dynamic energy of 1980s design.
Razzia, a renowned French graphic artist, is celebrated for his iconic Art Deco-inspired poster designs with a modern twist. In this piece, he juxtaposes a stylized black-and-white Eiffel Tower, a monochrome portrait of a woman, and an accordion transformed into the Arc de Triomphe, all set against a dramatic black background with vivid color accents.
The use of cutout-style imagery and neon-inspired typography reflects the postmodern aesthetic of the early 1980s, capturing the bold creativity of the era. The vibrant contrast of yellow, red, and blue highlights adds to the poster’s visual impact, making it a standout example of contemporary French graphic design.
