About the Item
Original vintage travel poster - USA The Orient Europe by DC-6 sleeper PAL Philippine Airlines Speed Comfort Dependability - featuring a great design depicting a passenger plane flying over the bold initials depicting scenes representing the listed destinations including the Golden Gate Bridge, a lighthouse, cable car tram and city skyscrapers representing America in the letter P; a sitting Buddha statue, ox cart, palm trees and a boat for Asia in the letter A; and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Big Ben clock tower in London, a castle and a gondola on a canal in Venice for Europe in the letter L, the title text above and below with the PAL oval blue globe, four point star and wing logo on the side. Founded in 1941, Philippine Air Lines was one of the original operators to provide flights on Douglas DC6 aircraft (built 1946-1958); this oval blue logo was their first, used from 1950-1960. Design by Walther Boland Associates. Litho in USA by Schwabacher Frey Co. Good condition, small repaired tears, restored paper losses, browning, backed on linen.
