Rare Original Vintage Guinness Poster My Goodness Where's The Guinness Goose

1940s

About the Item

Rare original vintage Guinness poster - My Goodness where's the Guinness? - featuring fun artwork by the British graphic designer Alfred Ambrose Chew Leete (1882–1933) depicting a plucked goose with no feathers on its body smiling and sitting on a plate with the bold red text above set against the dark background. This scarce poster was issued during World War Two when paper shortages led Guinness to re-use old posters to print new ones; the solid blue background would conceal the image on the reverse. One of the world's most popular beer drink brands, Guinness is an Irish dry stout founded by Arthur Guinness in Dublin in 1759. Printed in Great Britain by Sanders Phillips & Co. Ltd., London. Large size. Fair condition, restored paper losses on edges, large restored tears through image, restored creasing, restored folds, staining, paint on image, backed on linen.
