Original vintage travel poster - Federal Building by the Chicago Rapid Transit - featuring great artwork by Willard Frederick Elms (1900-1956) depicting silhouettes of people walking in front of the Beaux-Arts style architecture building with the dome against the blue sky background, the text above and with two shields between a ribbon below. Designed by Henry Ives Cobb (1859-1931) the historic Chicago Federal Building was completed in 1905 and housed the Post Office as well as the Civil Service Commission, federal courts and other government offices including the Weather Bureau (Walt Disney worked in this Post Office in 1918, and Al Capone was sentenced for tax evasion at court in 1931); the building was demolished in 1965. Printed by Illinois Litho, Chicago, USA. Large size. Good condition, restored folds, restored tears, restored paper losses, staining, 2 sheet poster backed on linen.
