Bob Gruen
Debbie Harry (Blondie), Max's Kansas City 1976 Signed Edition of 10 Diamond Dust

2018

About the Item

Bob Gruen Debbie Harry (Blondie) Max's Kansas City, 1976, 2018 Limited Edition silkscreen and diamond dust on 320 gram coventry rag paper Signed, numbered 7/10 and dated in graphite pencil by the artist Accompanied by official COA from publisher, plus COA from gallery 30 × 22 inches Unframed Bob Gruen's iconic image of blondie has been silkscreened in a limited edition of only ten (10) hand signed and numbered works with sparkling diamond dust additions. The photos don't do justice to the dazzling sparkling diamond dust elements. (This is the 30" x 22" edition of only 10, gorgeously silkscreened with diamond dust - and not to be confused with the open edition archival pigment prints which aren't silkscreened and don't have any diamond dust.) Accompanied by an official COA from the publisher - as well as COA from the gallery This work was created by Gruen in collaboration with master printer Gary Lichtenstein, based upon Gruen's iconic photo of Deborah Harry. The printer had to first deconstruct the original photograph and then reconstruct it into a silkscreen using multiple screen for each section - creating a new original work. After that, Diamond Dust was added. A true collaboration between the master photographer and print maker! For fans of New York in the 1980's and of the legendary Deborah Harry, this is a must have gem. Gruen's portrait of Blondie is instantly recognizable as it appeared in advertisements for "Punk" at various subway stations throughout New York City. It is also shown in most film biographies of Blondie. Gruen is one of the most well-known and respected photographers in rock and roll. From John Lennon to Johnny Rotten; Muddy Waters to the Rolling Stones; Elvis to Madonna; Bob Dylan to Bob Marley; Tina Turner to Debbie Harry, he has captured the music scene for over forty years in photographs that have gained worldwide recognition. Shortly after John Lennon moved to New York in 1971, Bob became John and Yoko’s personal photographer and friend, making photos of their working life as well as private moments. In 1974 he created the iconic images of John Lennon wearing a New York City t-shirt and standing in front of the Statue of Liberty making the peace sign – two of the most popular of Lennon’s images. As chief photographer for Rock Scene Magazine in the ’70s, Bob specialized in candid, behind the scenes photo features. He toured extensively with the emerging punk and new wave bands including the New York Dolls, Sex Pistols, Clash, Ramones, Patti Smith Group and Blondie. Bob has also worked with major rock acts such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Elton John, Aerosmith, Kiss and Al
