About the Item

Original Beat Back the Hun with Liberty Bonds vintage military poster.. Artist F. Strothmann. Original World War 1 antique vintage poster; archival linen backed and ready to frame. In very good to excellent condition. Size 20" x 30". Grade A Depicted: Purple German soldier (possessing a spiked helmet, bloody fingers and green eyes) looming on the horizon over smoking ruins; the sky is yellow-orange. The poster features a menacing figure, often interpreted as a representation of the German enemy (referred to derogatorily as "the Hun"). The use of dark colors and aggressive imagery was designed to evoke fear and urgency. The poster was part of a broader campaign to encourage American citizens to purchase Liberty Bonds, which were war bonds sold to support the Allied cause in World War I. The funds raised through these bonds were crucial for financing the war effort. Frederick Strothmann, was an American illustrator and graphic artist known for his work during the early 20th century, particularly in the realm of wartime propaganda. This is an Original Vintage Poster, not a reproduction. Its authenticity is guaranteed a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing genuine and high-quality vintage posters.
