Edition of 50 Ger Doornink's limited editions are based on a high resolution scan of the original artwork. They are printed on archival Hahnemühle German Etching paper. This technique allows us to capture the original's textures, colours and depth, so that you can enjoy them in their totality. In order to gain awareness of something that is concealed yet right in front of your eyes, or hidden in plain sight, you must distance yourself. The Dutch multidisciplinary artist, Ger Doornink, specialises in painting, illustration and photography. Time spent living in Tokyo, Milan and currently Amsterdam, has heavily influenced his aesthetic. Strong lines and bright colours depict portraits of women. Doornink’s eye for design and close links to the world of fashion is evident, along with his fascination with the Italian and Dutch masters. Throughout his long and varied international career in design, photography, fashion and the arts, knowledge of diverse techniques has been garnered, coming together on his canvases to portray beauty itself. In his series "Japanese Portraits with Rich textures", the contemporary Dutch artist Ger Doornink explores different representations of Japanese women. Doornink lived in Japan when he was a young artist and since then the Japanese culture has always fascinated him. In this series, not only is the first time that he represents Japanese women, but also the first time he experiments with diverse textures. He implements different materials in his canvases to give shape to the clothes of the women depicted and their hair and accessories, making an obvious reference to his previous experience in fashion. Besides, among the materials, one can find Japanese paper and fabric, a beautiful detail bringing the subject of the portrait and the theme even closer together. *More images and videos can be provided if interested **This is a limited edition of 50 and they are produced on request.
