"Sous le manteau du feu - portrait of Roman boy's face" is an original color lithograph by Jean Cocteau. Limited edition lithograph from 1954, monographed and dated and numbered on front lower left corner. Edition 277 (9/227). Comes framed in an antique wood frame. French artist Jean Cocteau (1889-1963) has created an extensive and varied oeuvre. This combines a literary talent with his enthusiasm for film and theater. Cocteau writes and edits film scripts and sometimes directs them himself. After his debut "Le Sang d'un Poète", his main works are "La Belle et la Bête" (1946), "L'Aigle à deux têtes" (1947), "Les parents terribles" (1949), "Orphée" (1950) and "La Villa de Santo Sospir" (1951). In addition, Cocteau writes and stages his own theater pieces and occasionally designs the equipment as in "Les Chevaliers de la table ronde" from 1937. His penchant for music sparked interest in Russian ballet, so that Cocteau's first play in this art genre in 1912 " Le Dieu bleu "will be performed. The cooperation with musicians leads to an intensive theoretical discussion, B. expressed in the musical manifesto "Le coq et l'Arlequin". With Picasso, who for Cocteau represents the most important artistic personalities around Montparnasse, he is also working on two pieces: "Antigone" and "Parade". Cocteau also fills the town hall of Menton with murals; In 1959 he devoted himself to chapel frescoes and mosaics. In addition, ceramics in the form of grotesque sculptures and vessel decorations found the artist's enthusiasm. At the end of the 1950s, Cocteau designed jewelry, which was made in 1965, two years after his death, by the Parisian jeweler Fred.
