The Munich 1972 Olympic Posters, a complete collection of 30 works
Located in London, GB
The extremely rare, complete collection of 28 artists original graphics, the first signed edition before the second poster edition of 4000, with varying edition numbers including Artist’s Proofs, from the total edition of 200, each hand signed and numbered or inscribed, 1969 - 1972, printed on varying papers, published by the Organising Committee for the Games of the XXth Olympiad and F. Bruckmann, Germany, with 2 additional screenprints of the Emblem by Victor Vasarely, 1972, signed from the edition of 200, on wove paper, each sheet, various measurements. (30 works) The 1972 Olympic Committee commissioned 28 international artists to each produce an original print for the Munich Games that year. Instead, these posters demonstrated that art can exist comfortably in the public sphere, serving both as art and advertisement and echoing the founder of the modern Olympics, Pierre de Coubertin...
