Original Italian poster from 1926 for the National Railway ENIT - Assisi

1926

About the Item

Original Italian poster from 1926. ENIT was founded in 1919 with the mission of promoting Italy as a tourist destination. ENIT's Italian travel posters were printed in collaboration with Ferrovie dello Stato (the Italian railway system). Assisi is a city and commune in Italy, in the province of Perugia, in the Umbria region. It is probably best known for the Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi (St. Francis). The travel poster shows Assisi and the Umbrian countryside as if from the window of a tower. Artist Vittorio Grassi provides a splendid image intended to entice tourists to visit the Italian city of Assisi. The poster is part of a series produced by the Italian Tourist Office (ENIT), often in collaboration with the Italian Railways (FS), and is one of the most sought-after travel documents. His interest in graphic design has resulted in a series of posters and stamps for various public bodies, including ENIT and the Italian railway system. Railway - Tourism Enit Italia Grafia Roma
