About the Item

The artwork is consists of a 3D-print (digital drawing), mounted on a black photo-cardboard. The object can be removed from the cardboard if you wish so and hung or placed as desired, this is how the artist originally intended the artwork. The object is signed and dated on the lower left. Barbara Szüts was born in Bad Bleiberg in Carinthia (AUSTRIA) in 1952. She studied painting with Carl Unger at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna from 1974 to 1980. From 1986 to 2010, the artist lived in Germany, first in Hamburg and then in Cologne. In 1987, she created her first wall objects carved from plastic, which Szüts calls ‘Epigrams’. From 1998, she worked on a cycle of works based on Bach's ‘Art of the Fugue’; sculptures made of stainless steel entitled ‘Modules’ thematise the process of growth, of ascending and descending. In this way, the artist transforms the vibrations of music into sculptural forms. Numerous works by the artist now characterise the cityscape of Cologne. In 2001, she spent time as ‘artist in residence’ at the Hotel Chelsea in Cologne, where she developed light sculptures from guests' fingerprints and satellite images from space. From 2004 she was a lecturer at the Free Academy of Fine Arts in Cologne. Since the end of 2010, she has moved the centre of her life and her studio back to Vienna.

Erinnerungen an einen Mord
By Curt Stenvert
Located in Wien, 9
Curt Stenvert was an Austrian avant-garde artist who initially worked as a painter. His artistic practice gradually expanded to include cinematic works and object art. His works are still internationally acclaimed today. He received his artistic training through his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He studied there with Albert Paris Gütersloh and Fritz Wotruba, which enabled him to deal with aspects of movement and perspective. This resulted in his aluminium plexiglass sculptures. His cinematic works were also influenced by his preoccupation with movement. Movement became a central motif in his works. Stenvert introduces the viewer to the biological, psychological, sociological and philosophical conditions of human existence. He developed experimental, feature-length and documentary films, which won international awards. He had solo museum exhibitions in Sweden, Italy and Germany and took part in the 1966 Venice Biennale. The social aspect preoccupied Stenvert throughout and he translated his impressions and thoughts of student unrest, social protests...
